Yes. The ILM Level 7 qualification is designed for senior level managers and leaders and typically takes 12 months to complete part-time. Learning combines five live virtual training days with flexible self-study, 4 hours of supervised coaching practice, and one-to-one tutor support—allowing you to progress at a pace that fits around your professional and personal commitments.
The ILM Level 7 Certificate requires around 138 hours of total learning time, while the Diploma involves approximately 368 hours. This includes both guided learning hours (GLH) and independent study, preparation, and assessment activities.
From day one, you’ll be supported by a dedicated coach-mentor-supervisor who guides you through each stage of your learning and assessment. You’ll also join small, interactive cohorts for live workshops, peer supervision and shared practice—plus gain ILM membership for access to exclusive resources, templates and insights.
Yes some prior coaching experience is desired but you don’tneed to have completed the ILM Level 5 to enrol. However you should be working at or have workat a senior or executive level where coaching and mentoring are part of yourleadership role.
The main difference between the ILM Level 7 Certificate and Diploma lies in the depth of coaching practice and supervision required. The Certificate involves a minimum of 20 hours of coaching with 2 to 3senior-level clients, along with 4 hours of supervision. In contrast, the Diploma requires a more substantial commitment of 60 hours of coaching with 4 to 9 coachees, supported by 8 hours of supervision. This increased level of practice and support reflects the deeper engagement, reflection, and professional development expected in the Diploma programme.
